My inspiration for writing poetry began by reading Marianne Williamson and her book Enchanted Love. The way that the words leaped off the page and inspired deep emotion took me to a place that felt really good…even great or other wordily.
I realised that I had pushed down all of these feelings because hey the world is a tough place and a thick skin was required to survive. I started writing to see if I could write the way I felt and be authentic. I found that my limitation was my vocabulary and that there were many words that could describe the emotions that I felt.
I started to play with the words and feel comfortable that the word LOVE could be expressed in many different ways and that a sentence in a poem could take that one word and give it colour and dimensions.
What I realised is that the words we use may not truly describe what the feeling is and by expanding and playing with words and the way they are put together that I could write a poem that shared the essence of the feeling in that moment.
